Angola Q3 Diamond Sales Down 16.6 Percent to $264 Million

Angola has generated $264 million from rough diamond sales in the third quarter of 2018, down 16.6 percent compared with $316, 5 million, a year earlier, according to Macauhub.


Head of Angola’s diamond trading company Sodiam, Eugénio Bravo da Rosa, was quoted as saying at a meeting with the diamond sector that 1.5 million carats of rough diamonds were sold during the period at an average price of $176 per carat.


Macauhub reports that Sodiam invoiced over $300 million in the second quarter.


The country produced 9 million carats of diamonds last year worth about $1.1 billion.
